Nimbuzz

With the rise of Wi-Fi enabled phones, applications are emerging to utilize as much features of a mobile as possible as before with GPRS one can't do more than mere browsing and text base communication. Cell phones with greater processing power and more intelligent Operating Systems demands a solid internet connection to do cross the boundaries. Mobile are now being in used in the real sense of mobility when applications are out there to make the gsm phone as voip client.

Gone are the days when people used to do voice chat on their PCs or laptops as they have to stick with the laptop or PC in order to complete the voip call. I tried Nimbuzz recently on my Nokia N82 which is quite convincing messenger for the modern needs of communication, covering even popular social networking sites. It's a bundled solution for a person like me who cannot stay out of touch. I am available and responsive to all my wall posts and i don't have to be on my laptop for the status updates.

All my contacts of Yahoo, MSN, Google, Twitter, Facebook are on my n82. I enjoy receiving voice calls and calling my online buddies for free, thanks to the Wi-Fi at my home and office. Posting a tweet has never been so easy and a much needed feature is facebook chat. I dont have to specially sign in to web interface of facebook or MySpace to chat my friends anymore.

Only thing which i found disappointing in Nimbuzz is it doesn't accept complex passwords which contains spaces or special characters due to which i had to change my passwords of all the messengers and social networking logins to be acceptable for Nimbuzz.

Applications like Nimbuzz helped mobiles to be more like mobiles when it comes to Voip :-)
